Bayanno TV & Rtv Savar correspondents assaulted

The Savar correspondent of the Bayanno Television Ramazan Ali and H M Shaurav of Rtv Ashulia correspondent were mercilessly beaten up yesterday evening while they were gathering information on extorting news.

The attack took place on Tuesday in Jirani Wapda area on the border at Ashulia of Savar and Gazipur Metropolitan. The members of the Victim’s family are getting ready for filling the cases against those connected with this cruel attack. 

Local sources said a group of local extortionists and terrorists were illegally parking cars in Jirani Wapdar area of Dhaka-Tangail highway and extorting money. After receiving such news Ramzan Ali, Savar correspondent of Bayanno TV, went there to collect information on extorting news. Meanwhile, 15 to 20 local terrorists led by Saiful Islam Chayan alias Kala Saiful, Rashedul, Alam, Ashiq and Moajjem Molla, attacked him with home-made weapons.

When the news of the attack spread, RTV's Ashulia correspondent HM Shaurav, Ramzan's brother Suman and nephew Arman went to rescue the Savar correspondent. As soon as they reached the spot, they were beaten up mercilessly and injured seriously by the terrorists. Finally, the terrorists fled when the locals came forward on the screams of the injured. Later on, the journalists were rescued and were undergoing treatment at a local hospital with injuries to their face, head, and other parts of their body.

Meanwhile, Savar Press Club condemned the attack on journalist Ramazan Ali and H M Shaurav and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved. A human chain was also held on the Press Club premises on Tuesday protesting the attack.
